John’s Story
For John and his two boys, Christmas was almost unbearable until they found Vineyard Compassion. After a relationship breakdown and mounting debt, he turned to our Foodbank, a lifeline that meant his children didn’t go hungry.
Sadly, more families like John’s are facing hardship this Christmas. The Causeway Coast and Glens area has the highest poverty rates across all councils in Northern Ireland, but you can help.
John’s journey didn’t end with a food parcel. Through our RESET Social Supermarket, he learned to budget, rebuilt his confidence through counselling, and is now on track to be debt-free. He’s even dreaming of starting his own business.

“A lot of people have nowhere else to turn but Vineyard Compassion. For someone who is really struggling financially at Christmas, especially someone with kids, if everything else goes wrong at least you have food in for the kids, it takes a lot of the pressure off and I would definitely say, donate if you can”.
